Quality Show was videogame news podcast that was created for Rocket Demon Productions with the hosts Chris "Buddhism101" Taji & Adolph "Okininja" Fastnacht, and I as the producer. The show survived shutdown of Rocket Demon Productions and survived as a standalone show for years before eventually being shelved as well.

Origin of Quality Show

Quality Show was created as a single source for all video games news, in a single quality podcast. Aaron "Jazz" Fawkes, a fellow creator from Rocket Demon Productions, & I came up with the idea, but I was the one who ran with it since Aaron was busy with other projects.

The show was created at the tail end of Rocket Demon Productions life, so only 3 episodes were released on the feed. But with so much effort put into it, Buddha, Chris, & I continued the show forward.

Buddha Leaves The Show

Not as excited about the project anymore, Buddha stepped down as one of the hosts. With no one else interested in joining the show, I stepped into the co-host position with Oki. As Buddha was the primary touchstone to the eSports scene, reporting tournament results were "temporarily" halted.

We tried to get another host so I could focus on the producer position, but we eventually just stopped as Oki & my host dynamic developed.

The Golden Years

We ran the show together for 3 years after Buddha left the show, and it was a good time. We learned a lot about the industry, were constantly on top of the latest news, and were having fun with our dumb bits on the show.

Over the years we tried different things, like live commentating E3 (Quantity Show), taking on interviews with smaller game developers, & even trying to put out short episodes IMMEDIATELY as news came out instead of waiting for our weekly release (Quality Bites).

But we never garnered any major following, which I feel was part of why the show was eventually shelved.

A Wistful End

Oki was always a good friend & a great supporter of the show. We had a good time putting it together, but in the end, I feel like I was pushing too hard for the show to become something and it wasn't working.

Meanwhile, Oki was creatively adding to the show with interesting out of left field questions for our interviews & fun gimmicks for the show. Needless to say, we had two different approaches & I was getting frustrated with my own work.

On top of my frustrations, Oki was getting married & my full-time job was requiring more attention. After a long talk, we ended the show right before the holiday season of 2018. It was an amicable end, but to this day I feel like I pushed a friendship and the show could have been a better thing for us both. But it was fun while it lasted.
