I stumbled upon the Storytelling Collective right before October started. I honestly can't remember how I found them, maybe Twitter, but I have to say it was a great experience. Through October they were hosting a class called "Making your First Encounter", which said would help guide you in making... well your first published encounter. Now I have been a GM for over a decade and have written plenty of encounters and adventures for my table. But something about how the class was presented certainly interested me and I'm not one to shy away from a different perspective. So I joined up.
I have to say it was a great decision. The online classes that unlocked each day were so easy to navigate, both via mobile and desktop. They brought in some great guest teachers from the DnD community like M.T. Black and Justice Arman. And I certainly got my fair share of alternate perspective. Honestly my biggest takeaways from the entire thing how to effectively brainstorm and industry knowledge on how to publish a PDF. I am honestly going to be going back to the class resources again and again to refresh myself moving forward. I was pleasantly surprised how much I actually took away from it.
I highly encourage trying the course yourself when they launch it again in a few months. I am certainly going to be looking at their other courses. Oh but in the meantime, have a peak at the encounter I made, complete with a map I based it off of from my Maptober 2022 series (Which I need to finish uploading).
